About the Crisis
Every year 1.8 million people die from diarrheal disease attributable to unsafe water or poor sanitation and hygiene.

More than 1.5 million of these are children under five, who are more at risk from diarrhea than from malaria, HIV, or even all types of fatal injuries combined.
